My name is Jeff Haines and I assume you’re here to have a look at my artwork. Perfect! This is my space to show you some of it.
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember and faces and figures have always been favorite subjects of mine. The effort to capture a likeness, convey the translucent qualities of flesh, while accurately describing form is technically quite challenging. But the more difficult aspect of portraiture is in capturing the essence of a person. It’s an intangible thing; something revealed by the artist through the push and pull of their chosen medium and it can be captured and then lost in a heartbeat. It isn’t something that’s achieved through countless hours of piling on details; on the contrary, it is often achieved through a direct and unpretentious simplicity. This is why I specialize in portraiture and figurative work. It’s immensely demanding, but at the same time extraordinarily rewarding when those goals are realized.
I strive to continue to learn and grow as an artist everyday, and probably always will. The connections I’ve made with so many people over the years on social media, YouTube and Patreon have been a very rewarding experience, and I’m always thrilled to learn that something of mine has inspired someone else to achieve more with their own work.
Have a look around! If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message.
